Why we reinvented the exercise mat
Thick mats feel comfortable, but they deprive you of stable contact with the floor. You sink in and end up training against the mat instead of with it. A thin mat gives you stability and control. But where bones meet the floor – knees, hands, elbows – there is a lack of protection.
STIRO remains thin and stable, but provides cushioning precisely where pressure occurs. No extra pads that slip out of place. Simply protection, right where you need it.

Our mission
We believe that training doesn't have to hurt to be effective. Conventional mats force you to make a choice: thin and stable – but painful on the joints. Or thick and soft – but unstable for every exercise.
STIRO combines both: a dimensionally stable mat with integrated cushioning zones that specifically relieve pressure on knees, hands, and elbows. No extra padding, no slipping. Simply training that feels better.

A family-owned business from Austria
STIRO is not backed by a corporation, but by a family business from Austria. The idea was born in Teresa's physiotherapy practice – where she saw patients giving up on exercises daily because the pressure on their knees and wrists was too great.
Together with Stefanie and Fritz, this experience was turned into a product: Teresa contributed her practical expertise, while Stefanie and Fritz handled the implementation. Every mat is manufactured by us personally in Austria.

What are the differences between STIRO Core, Travel, Dual, and Kids?
STIRO Core is our all-rounder – a full-size exercise mat (180 x 60 cm) with a Soft Impact Zone for knees and joints. STIRO Dual features two cushioning zones, ideal if you frequently perform exercises where knees and hands are on the mat at the same time. STIRO Travel is more compact and lightweight – perfect for on the go or as a travel mat. STIRO Kids is tailored to children in both size and padding. STIRO Head & Hand specifically protects hands, forearms, and the head area – for instance, during planks, push-ups, or yoga poses with head contact.
Why not just use a thicker mat?
A thick mat feels softer at first, but it takes away your stability and control. You sink in, your balance suffers, and your joints are actually under more strain because you are constantly compensating. STIRO takes a different approach: the mat remains thin and stable, but provides targeted cushioning exactly where bones meet the floor. This way, you get both – a firm foundation and joint protection.
Which exercises is STIRO suitable for?
For all floor exercises: yoga, strength training, mobility, stretching, Pilates, and physical therapy exercises. The difference is particularly noticeable during exercises with floor contact – planks, push-ups, lunges, quadruped positions, or any position where knees, hands, or elbows rest on the mat.
What exactly is the "soft impact zone"?
The Soft Impact Zone is a 38 x 38 cm cushioning element (11 mm thick) that is firmly integrated into the mat. It specifically absorbs pressure points on the knees, elbows, and wrists—without the need to position a separate cushion that keeps sliding out of place. The zone is positioned so that it sits exactly where pressure occurs during the most common exercises.
Is STIRO also suitable for beginners?
Especially for beginners. Anyone new to training often lacks a sense of how to relieve strain on joints during floor exercises. Many give up on exercises or develop compensatory postures because the pressure on their knees or wrists is uncomfortable. STIRO eliminates this problem, allowing you to focus on proper form instead of pain.
How does the 30-day trial work?
You order your STIRO, train with it, and decide in your own time. If you are not convinced within 30 days, send the mat back to us and receive a full refund of the purchase price. Please note, however, that you are responsible for the return shipping costs.
How do I clean my STIRO?
Simply wipe clean with a damp cloth and a little mild soap, then allow to air dry. Do not put in the washing machine and do not dry in direct sunlight. The TPE material is water-repellent and does not absorb sweat, so a quick clean after your workout is completely sufficient.
What material is STIRO made of?
The mat is made of TPE (thermoplastic elastomer) – a high-quality, pollutant-free material that is skin-friendly, odorless, and free from PVC, latex, and plasticizers. TPE is dimensionally stable, easy to clean, and more durable than conventional foam mats.
